lessons 3

Do you feel you are in a rut, need help with something in particular or are just ready for a new direction? I'm a professional bassist and have been for close to 30 years. I play gigs regularly in DFW and can provide references from some of the best musicians in town. I have played the smallest coffee houses to the biggest stages with major acts. I play both electric and upright. I offer 1 hour bass lessons at your house or mine. Learn different techniques like slap playing, finger funk, healthy left/right hand positions etc. Learn different styles like jazz, funk, raggae, rock and country. Let's work on your reading, groove, music theory and ear training. Learn the Nashville number system. Learn how to be a good studio musician and how to get the right sound for a particular gig, session or style of music. Let's make sure your bass is set up right and suits you. I have methods for beginners to advanced students. 1 hour lessons are ala carte for you folks with busy schedules. Just call me when you feel you need a lesson and we will set it up around your schedule. If you prefer weekly lessons, I will be offering them at a beautiful new guitar store in McKinney in the very near future. Let's get the new year started right. Good bass players are always in demand and I can get you where you need to go.

I have had wonderful experiences learning from Rich. He is a fine example of what a competent and hard-working bass player needs to be to make a living playing music. His theoretical and technical approach on the instrument is of the highest caliber. He is well versed in all genres and styles and has a great touch explaining musical concepts. He has also offered me great advice about being a professional musician and set me up with my first paying gig. I am now working every weekend and I owe much of it to Rich
for giving me the opportunity to gig and network.  I highly recommend any musician to take lessons with Rich Stanmyre, you will definitely walk away a better player.

I have been playing for quite a while in various bands as well as  studio recording  but within just the first few months of being under the tutelage of Rich,  I quickly realized that he was about to introduce to me to a completely new world of what it means to not only become a great bassist, but also a great musician. I am both humbled and honored to be able to publicly proclaim that I’m a proud student & musical protégé of Rich Stanmyre.
